English is one of the most widespread and widely spoken languages in the world. There are countless variants of English; we translate mainly into British English and to a lesser extent into American English. Our English linguists have long-standing expertise with financial texts, but it doesn’t stop there; our team are happy to work on whatever you need, with recent domains also including agriculture, communications, engineering, and tourism and travel. Our total annual output into English is 8–10 million words.
Danish (dansk) is one of the North Germanic or Scandinavian languages. It is spoken by around five and a half million people, mainly in Denmark. We translate 10–15 million words into Danish every year. Danish was one of Sandberg’s first working languages, and we have translated over 150 million words since the company was founded.
Swedish (svenska) is a North Germanic language spoken by more than nine and a half million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland. We translate 15–20 million words into Swedish every year. One of our teams of dedicated and specially trained Swedish linguists serves some of the travel industry’s best-known brands, providing translations of their sales and marketing texts, booking systems and travel destinations.
Finnish (suomi or suomen kieli) is the language spoken by the majority of the population in Finland. It is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other one being Swedish) and an official minority language in Sweden. We translate 6–10 million words into Finnish every year. Our Finnish team provides linguistic services for clients in numerous industries across the Nordic region and wider world, and has particular experience of translating automotive, transportation and engineering texts.
Norwegian (norsk) is a North Germanic language spoken primarily in Norway, where it is an official language. We translate 10–15 million words into Norwegian every year. Our team of Norwegian linguists provide translations in both official forms of Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk), though the demand for Nynorsk is only 3 per cent of the demand for Bokmål.
Icelandic (íslenska) is one of the Nordic languages and belongs to the West Scandinavian branch of the Germanic languages. We translate up to half a million words into Icelandic every year. Over the last decade, we have provided Icelandic translation services in over 50 domains. We have served over 200 clients with two million words of Icelandic translation during this period.
